Odysseus is a great hero. After Troy, I have decided he is special. I help him in the many challenges that he is faced with. I use my wisdom to help guide him on his journey. I, Athena am the best goddess to help him along his way and create plans. Poseidon and his son, Polyphemus are my enemies. I know that a blind Cyclopes is useless. I have given Odysseus a weapon to blind him. It is what he deserves, after all. Wanting to trap Odysseus and his men in his cave and slowly eat all of them. Many Gods think I’m ridiculous, planning every battle, and every situation. They don’t realize how important strategy is. That is why I beat them every time, of course, so I don’t mind. After the situation with my Uncle’s son, Polyphemus Odysseus gets into even more trouble. Zeus had it all figured out, so I didn’t interfere. Finally, I found a situation to help him once again, when he returns home to Ithaca. I thought my plan out carefully, making sure everything would go as planned. If it did go as planned, Odysseus would get his life back. He is in great trouble. He has been on a great journey, in which I have watched him the whole way. My father, Zeus has been on his side. 130 plus men are in his home taking advantage of Penelope and Telemachus, trespassing, and lying. It would be pure stupidity for Odysseus to walk into his home as he is. He is exhausted, angered, and will not survive battling the suitors alone. That is why I will disguise him many times, and will help him battle the suitors. After disguising him as a beggar, his identity will not be revealed. With Telemachus’ help, they will hide the weapons, and keep only the ones that they will use. With my help, I will tell Odysseus where to go, what to do, and when to do it. After there are absolutely no suitors alive I will disguise him again for the meeting of Penelope. She will not believe that he is Odysseus disguised as a beggar. Especially having her guard up for twenty long and dreadful years. I was proud of Odysseus for his wit. Knowing the one thing to say that will make Penelope realize that he is truly home. After seeing their reuniting, I know that what I have done was the right thing. I will be there for Odysseus for any other challenges that face him in life.
